Crested Caracara (Caracara cheriway). Caracaras are typical in Cuba and mid-Florida, north of the Everglades. This bird is likely migrating for some reason. The two white spots at the END of the wings are indicative of a caracara, immature golden eagles have white spots midwing and are larger. Florida Keys, Florida. Jan, 2011.

A Western Gull (Larus occidentalis), possibly a hybrid, however, heavy bill and patterning suggests Western, whereas pale edging on primaries and pink legs indicate a hybrid possibility. Hybrid sea gulls are quite common and can make identification difficult where ranges overlap and species become blurred. San Francisco, California. Nov 2009
Bird is the word.
I will be a frequent visitor as I like this site very much.
Thank you very much Bill! I will try to add more to my field guide (probably more to come in Spring).
